The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Prague and Transparency International Czech Republic are jointly organising an anticorruption seminar under the title “Corruption and its Prevention – Shared Responsibility”. The seminar will take place on Wednesday November 12, 2008 at Pyramida Hotel in Prague.
The seminar has two main objectives. One is to point out that suppression of corruption is the joint responsibility of the government and public administration, the non-governmental sector and the business community. Representatives of these sectors will take part in the seminar and discuss co-operation in exposing corruption, as well as investigation and prosecution of corruption cases. Another key objective is to prevent / minimise opportunities for corruption and promote transparency in the implementation of the EEA Grants in the Czech Republic.
The seminar will be divided into three parts:
- The first part will focus on preventing corruption and promoting transparency in connection with the EEA Grants. This segment will include interventions by the disbursing authorities (Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic, the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the Foundation for Development of Civic Society / NROS) and grant recipients (local authorities of the town of Jicin).
- The second part will focus on exposing of corruption, protection of whistleblowers, and the corporate sector’s participation in prevention of corruption. This segment will include interventions by the Norwegian Industrial Safety and Security Organisation, the Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities, Siemens Czech Republic, PWC and KPMG audit and advisory services.
- The third part will focus on uncovering, investigation and prosecution of corruption cases. This segment will include interventions by Norwegian and Czech police authorities and the Czech public prosecutor’s office.
