Poslední aktualizace: 17.10.2011 // Hydro, the biggest conference on hydropower in Europe, brings together approximately 1400 policy-makers, developers, financiers and hydro practitioners from all over the world. This year’s conference is held in Prague from the 17th to the 19th of October and during these three days the participants can experience panel discussions and work-shops focusing on different aspects of hydropower.

The theme for Hydro 2011 is Practical Solutions for a Sustainable Future, and discussions on how hydro power can be exploited to provide a reliable source of electricity for the developing world is one of the key aspects at this year’s conference. Approximately 2 billion people in the world are lacking a secure supply of electricity while only 30 percent of the world’s hydropower potential is exploited. The Hydro 2011 conference emphasizes the active participation of those from less developed countries as these countries often have the greatest hydro potential and the need to develop it is also the greatest here. Representatives from the European Investment Bank, the African Development Bank and the World Bank are also present at the conference.

INTPOW, a Norwegian network organization, are present at Hydro 2011 and representing several Norwegian companies within the hydropower sector in Norway. Nearly all of Norway’s electricity is provided by hydropower and Norway has a long history and expertise within this field.
