One of the most famous plays by Norwegian dramatist Henrik Ibsen (last year a century passed since his death) appears on our stages very often – just the Prague National Theatre has produced it twelfth times. Now the play is presented on two stages of the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre, directed by Jan Mikulášek.
Heda Gabler appears on the theatre stages so often, because it has, like other plays considered a classic, a strong story, whose message does not weaken in the course of the years. Heda tries with all her heart and soul to break out from the stereotype, to rise above the “small” world of decent marriage without emotions, she desires to experience something amazing, unusal, extraordinary. She is a strong heroine, in today’s words, emancipated. Does she have a chance to succeed? Of course she does, the thing is if she takes it or wastes it…
Jan Mikulášek is rightly considered one of the most talented young directors in our country. (Let’s mention at least Queen Margot or La Dolce Vita produced in the NMST)His distinctive perception of the world in combination with the play by the giant of the world theatre promises an extraordinary experience.
