Exhibition • LUBOS HRUZA • SCENOGRAHY AND PAINTINGS 1958 - 2008

The creative works of Lubos Hruza, is always truthful to his personal independent principal “to go under the surface,”  to dive into the essentiality of the situations and of the characters in a  given play. His drawings of costume design which were often bordering to a caricature drawings. They are clear documentation of  Hruza’s ability to interpret the essential in a character role.  Its important to mention, that often his caricature drawings provoked a dialog with the actors and showed them a way to interpret their roles in the play.

For the first time, in addition to the final stage design, we have exhibited drawings and sketches, capturing the creative flow of the thoughts that lead to the final result of a stage design. Together with photographs we try to  document  the process from the first creative ideas to the final realization.

Lubos Hruza was very independent in his creativity and it was natural for him to expand his work to other forms of visual art. For the first time in Czech republic we have included some of his oil paintings, graphic works, aquarelles, and charcoal drawings. Some of these works have been exhibited several times in the Scandinavian countries.

Curators of this exhibition: Madla Hruza and Irena Wagnerova - Filova

The Society of Lubos Hruza represented by Margareta Hruza, and the Horacke Divadlo, Jihlava organized the exhibition and the closing event.
