Orstad Storband - Czech tour 2011
Czech composer and musician Mojmir Bartek has collaborated with Orstad Storband on several occasions but never in his own native country. The Orstad Storband tour of the Czech Republic started as an idea shared with the Norwegian trumpet player Didrik Ingvaldsen and the idea is now becoming a reality.
Together with Mojmir Bartek, the Orstad Storband will visit four Czech cities during their 2011 tour and it is the first time the band is introduced to the Czech audience. The Orstad Storband was established in 1979 and plays music from several different genres. In addition to more traditional big band music they have also played music written by Zappa and the Norwegian composer and trumpet player Didrik Ingvaldsen. Orstad Storband is known for being innovative and gets inspiration from African and Latin American rhythms as well as traditional Japanese music.
