Jan loves Jasmin, but she has been promised to a Pakistani nephew who will shortly arrive in Norway in order to marry her. Under cover of writing a thesis on immigrant stores, Jan gets a job in the store of Allahditta and Yousaf, Jasmin's father and brother-in-law. Yousaf helps Jan to becomve a Moslem, so that he can have Jasmin, and Jan helps Yousaf prepare for his taxi driver's test. Simultaneously, Jan tries to work on Allahditta's attitude towards mixed marriages, which Allahditta is profoundly against. Direct from the Norwegian reality of the seventies, Sonia and her two children arrive in Trinidad to join her husband, Jo, who is working as an oil engineer. She is introduced to a homeless class of men who have the whole world as their workplace - and their wives, who follow them wherever their contracts take them. On the surface these women live lives of luxury, with large houses and servants. The days are uneventful and blend together into an everlasting holiday, where the women nurse their superficial relationships over poolside cocktails – the perfect climate for self-delusion.

In addition to the Nordic Film Festival there will also be a Nordic Music Party on 17 February in Prague's Malostranská beseda. This will be a public music / dance / social event including the possibility to learn Nordic folk dances. There will also be a concert with Nordic repertoire by electro-folk group l'Arachecoeur. It is also a possibility to meet the rest of the participants in the festival in an informal setting. The event is inspired by similar events in the Nordic countries, but in the Czech Republic this is an unique possibility to get to know the Nordic culture from another perspective
The festival is supported by the Nordic Cultural Fund, the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, and the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Prague.
