37 og et halvt/ 37 and a Half
Norway, 2005, 99 min., comedy/drama, norwegian with czech subtitles

Selma is 37-years old, the aging process is running at full speed, and she is definitely not where she should have been in her life: her boyfriend is leaving her, their friends are following him (they were really his friends from the start), she has no kids and no career. But she has a dream, which she has scaled down from becoming the Norwegian Crown Princess to becoming a columnist in the daily Dagbladet. This also seems to become a failure. Then one evening she involuntarily bumps into the two most popular girls from her childhood, "Pretty" Janne and "Perfect" Anna. Back then Selma had to be content with the name "Strange" Selma. But soon she discovers that things have not been going so well for the girls as she imagined, and that people tend to become much more sympathetic as the blows to their faces are distributed a littel more evenly. Together they put into effect a plan to fulfill Selma's dream. But things are definitely not working out the way they had imagined....

Appelsinpiken/ The Orange Girl
Norway/Germany/Spain, 2009, drama, 76 min., czech subtitles

Georg lives with his mother Veronika in Oslo. On his eighteenth birthday, he receives a thick letter from his father, Jan Olav, which his father wrote just before he died, when Georg was only six years old. On the same day, Georg is going to the mountains, equipped with skis and telescope, in order to photograph a rare celestial phenomenon. He is ambivalent concerning his father's lether, and has repressed his memories of him. Still, he brings the letter with him. On the train to the mountains, he meets Stella, of the same age as him. In the letter, his father asks Georg a fundamental existential question: What's the point of living when we're going to die anyway, maybe even when life is at its best? Would you want to be born if you had a choice? But before Georg is allowed to answer, his father wants to tell him a story about the Orange Girl he met in 1982.

"Pathginder" is based on a 12th-century legend. Filled with aciton and drama, it tells the story of a young boy who, having seen his parents and little sister slaughtered by a raiding party of Tsjudes (a much feared tribe from what istoday Northern Russia) is taken prisoner and forced to act as a pathfinder for the raiders.
