After two years of extensive reconstruction, the Holy Cross' Elevation Church was officially reopened in September 2011. The gothic church, which’s history dates back to the 13th century, is seen as one of the most important monuments of the Czech town Jihlava. In the opening ceremony participated many distinguished guests, among them the Norwegian Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Jens Eikaas with his wife, and the Mayor of Jihlava, Jaroslav Vymazal. On 6 September 2011, the Norwegian Embassy in Prague arranged a Czech-Norwegian gala concert in the Church of the Saviour in celebration of the completion of the EEA and Norway Grants 2004-2009 and the start of the new five-year grant period in the Czech Republic.

The innovative project PERSPEKTIS 21 - Renewable Resources, Perspective for the 21st Century – gives secondary school students and teachers in the Prague region access to high-tech, interactive and flexible e-learning courses in the field of renewable energy. The data generated in the project will also be used for research and teaching at universities.

The famous Jurkovič House in Brno, belonging to the Moravian Gallery in Brno, was reopened to the public on 1st April 2011 following extensive renovation carried out with the support of a grant from Norway. Designed by the Slovak architect Dušan Jurkovič and dating back to 1906, the Art Nouveau villa – which makes marked use of rustic or folklore elements – serves as a multiple-purpose museum.

The project “Regeneration of entrance building and courtyard at Michal Colliery National Cultural Monument, Michalkovice”, supported with the EEA Grant of 512 000 Euro, was officially finished on 22 February 2011. The Coal Mine Michal, whose history goes back to 1843, was closed down in 1993 and has been run as a museum since 1995.
